New Physics in Nonlinear Optics
à 11h en salle C. Brot
Quoting Elsa Garmire in the article “Nonlinear optics in daily life”, Opt. Express. (2013) : “While NLO researchers have promised many applications, only a few have changed our lives so far.” Can we state she’s right ? Actually NLO seems to be useless and certainly it has not changed our lives. Not at all, definitely. However, working on NLO is still very exciting. In this talk, I will show the dying art of investigating light-matter interaction. Gap-solitons, self-pulsing, nonlinearities in disordered structures, two-photon absorption, band-filling, and many other fascinating nonlinear phenomena will be presented. Few applications, really ?
