The transpose channel---a generic recovery operation from noise

Ng Hui Khoon

à 11h en salle C. Brot

Quantum error correction forms a central pillar behind long-lived storage of quantum information and large-scale quantum computation. While the recovery operation required for active stabilization of the information carried by perfectly correctable codes is well-known, finding the recovery for codes that are only approximately correctable, the typical situation in practice, often requires difficult numerical procedures to optimize the recovery fidelity. In this talk, I will discuss a recovery operation---the transpose channel, which reduces to the standard recovery operation in the case of perfectly correctable codes, and is provably near-optimal for approximately correctable codes. The transpose channel, which has a particularly simple analytical form, provides a good recovery operation for any noise channel and any code approximately correctable under the noise.
