Upon the researchers requests, the mechanics workshop conceives and realizes mechanical pieces that aim at being utilized on various experiments (under pressure cells, optics experiments regarding lasers, rheometry, electro/magneto rheology, etc.)
The workshop is equipped with conventional machines, including two milling machines, a lathe having digital displacements, a micro-balls hardness machine, a band saw, a column-drill, an electric welder, a welding/brazing device using argon.
These tools permit machining a large variety of materials (stainless steel, aluminum, brass, copper, titanium, zirconium, plastic...), and fabricating both high-precisions pieces and much larger pieces.
By virtue of a cooperation agreement with the Côte d’Azur Observatory, it is possible, upon specific needs, the Laboratory can take advantage of its numeric-control machines as well as to its computer-assisted facilities (CAC, CATIA, FAO and ALPHACAM).
