Closed-orbit theory for spatial densities and applications

I investigate the particle and kinetic-energy densities for fermions confined in a mean field potential. Using the Gutzwiller’s semi-classical Green function, we derive the oscillating part of the densities in terms of closed non-periodic classical orbits. A "local virial theorem" valid for arbitrary non-integrable potentials is found. We analyse this result in the context of DFT and we test the semiclassical theory for a variety of simple models. I will conclude by two applications : cold atoms at unitarity and dielectric microresonators.
