Microscopic Characterisation of Optical Fibres : Rare Earth and Refractive Index Distribution
Mercredi 21 mai 2014
à 11h en salle C. Brot
The Optical Technology Research Laboratory at Victoria University, Melbourne, Australia together with its collaborators has developed a variety of methods to investigate the sub-micron characteristics of optical fibres. There have been two main foci. First is the determination of the distribution of rare earth dopants within the fibre core ; important for amplifier and laser applications. The second is the 3-dimensional refractive index profile created within the fibre core, through the imprinting of a Fibre Bragg Gratings This seminar will present an overview of this work and look to future possibilities.
